Rightly used, shocks and extreme disappointments can drive you into an Awakening within your Divine Godself beyond your causal ego, which Real Self is never shocked or disappointed about anyone or anything, but remains in a state of serene total Knowledge and Awareness.

Let your stress over the ugly trends of the outer world fall upon your desire for cosmic awareness and understanding instead of upon a wrong area such as your worldly intellect or your personal emotions.  And why read the next note if you have not fully received the liberating message of this note?

Whenever you are terribly jolted by some bad news about the world or some reversal of fortune in your personal life, it means you have been treating your state of hypnotic sleep as if it were an awake and aware state.  Those who are truly awake and aware are never jolted or shocked by any event whatsoever.  See why this must be before you read the next note.

This note wants you to know that if you believe you already know everything that is good or right for your life, you are still heading for some shocks and rude awakenings.  Self-righteous smug complacency is always a big mistake.

If shocking news or terrible disappointments are the only kind of things that wake you up and teach you, then it is your spiritual task to cheerfully welcome such events for your cosmic education.  Understanding this can prepare you for more than just the next note-session.
