TAKE NOTE OF SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Year Two
SESSION NINE

Picture some palm trees on a beautiful white beach, like in the movie “Contact”.   Then picture someone highly intelligent walking toward you on that beach, but, unlike the movie, the person is not a simulation of a loved relative.  The person is rather alien, different, but very aware and benign in the mood of a benefactor.  That incredible being comes right up to you and starts off by asking you a poignant question: “Are you absolutely sure you are merely getting into a note here?”

Picture yourself on a desert planet, perhaps somewhat like Dune (or Arrakis), but without the giant worms.  Picture that it is more real than any science-fiction creation.  The planet has vast deserts, but it also has oceans and mountain lakes with wonderful gardens and gigantic trees where the people live. These people seem to be birdlike.  They have wings and they fly. One of them sails down and lands before you with a question. “If you did not understand the last note, how do you intend to comprehend this one?”

Picture that you are on a planet with great oceans, but very little productive land, yet that land is kept super-productive for the amphibian people the ancient Egyptians called the “Water Dogs”.  This is the planet Iarga, which orbits the star Procyon. Now, you have arrived here and you are riding in a carriage on one of their superfast monorail trains between island cities, crossing over a long causeway.  There is a beautiful twilight effect on the ocean, which you view with strangely luminous, massive clouds above the ocean.  You feel like you are looking into eternity.  You express this feeling to a Iargan citizen who is sitting beside you on the train.  That individual then says: “I often feel that way myself.  I never tire of it, even mentally in a note.”  Then the scene collapses and you are at the end of another unpredictable note-session.
