TAKE NOTE OF SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Year Two
SESSION TWO HUNDRED AND
NINETY-SIX

This note wants you to look at how petty and self-defensive most of your personal plans actually are.  See how most of your personal plans keep you rigid, tense and blind to your surroundings as well as unconscious of greater spiritual issues. See how most of your personal plans are actually plans to remain mediocre and spiritually undeveloped.  Your personal plans are nowhere near the significant breakthroughs and developments of Zen, Yoga, Nagual Shamanism or the Sufi Way. Your personal plans are for the most part nothing but the shallow brain activities of spiritual failure.  Take a swift and profound look at the actual nature of your personal planning before you read the next note.

Are you aware that any note might at any time open a new doorway into a better way of being a human being?

Any conclusion you have about your spiritual development that causes you to fearfully and angrily defend it against seriously probing inquiry should tell you that only a wrong conclusion would cause such a reaction in yourself.  Do not go to the next note in such a state if you want to profit from all this.

This note is about how you decide what is true or false about human spiritual development.  If you really know, for instance, you do not have to anxiously convince yourself or others that you know.  Have you seen how this works in yourself and others? Inwardly shaky confidence or conviction about spiritual development is what Chögjam Trungpa called Spiritual Materialism.  It is always accompanied by sweeping unresolved spiritual factors under the carpet in order to pursue wrong personal planning.  Have you noticed how this happens?
